MATT MAHURIN
THE CAMERA, THE CANVAS,
AND THE COMPUTER
Matt Mahurin has forty years’ experience as an illustrator, photographer, film director and teacher. He has contributed political and social illustrations to Time, Newsweek, Mother Jones, Rolling Stone, Esquire, The London Observer and New York Times Op-Ed pages. Additionally, Matt has photographic essays on The Homeless, People With AIDS, Texas Prison System, Abortion Clinics, Mental Hospitals, Nicaragua, Haiti, Belfast, Mexico, Japan and France.
Matt has published three books of fine-art photographs and his photographs are in the permanent collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. He has directed music videos for U2, Tom Waits, REM, Peter Gabriel, Tracy Chapman, Sting, Bonnie Raitt, Ice-T, Metallica, David Byrne and Joni Mitchell. His documentary I Like Killing Flies was chosen for the 2004 Sundance Film Festival. Matt lives in California and teaches workshops and lectures at art schools and professional organizations. His five-volume, 2000 page instructional and inspirational exploration of life as a creative professional, The Imagemaker’s Handbook wsill be released in 2023.
